Nestled in the hills of Monroe County Ohio, Polled
Herefords have been roaming
the pastures at Turner Hereford Farm for
nearly 40 years. Our genetics are proven and have stood the test of
time. While you will find
old line genetics, you will also see that we are progressive in our
mating which has allowed us to continue to move our cattle forward.
As you look at our website and our cattle, you will find that we focus
primarily on 3 things in our breeding program.
- Genetics. We believe that if
you use cattle that have a proven track record you will consistently
be able to produce great cattle. We try to mate our cattle featuring
the maternal side. In other words we look for great females to fill
our pastures, and then we look for bulls that come from great
females.

- Performance. We try
to breed our cattle to consistently produce EPD's that well exceed
the breed standards. We do not believe that you should over-emphasis
the numbers, but we do believe that a low birth weight EPD will aid
with birthing ease and that a high WW and YW EPD will consistently
produce animals with superior growth. You will find that our cattle emphasize birthing ease, but still have
very acceptable growth numbers.
- Appearance. We believe that the
cattle need to be attractive. We want our cattle to be able to
perform in the pasture, but also believe that they should be able to
perform in the show ring.
